Several Internship Options

Students who are currently enrolled and working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a projected graduation date are eligible to apply for our Professional Summer, Fall, or Spring Internships. We are looking for significant coursework or extracurricular work in the targeted area.

Above all, we look for candidates who can be stewards of our most important asset, our culture, and our customers. When searching for potential employees, we are looking for people who both understand the need for our core values, and are willing to embrace and embody them.

How to Qualify:

  • Must currently be enrolled as a full-time student at a U.S. accredited
    university in pursuit of a bachelor’s or master’s degree.
  • Must be ready to have a good time, and work in a team environment.
  • Must want to get your hands dirty, and ready to have your opinions matter.


An accounting intern at Royal will do a variety of tasks including, but not limited to:

  • Making and checking inventory
  • Prep and entry of journal accounts
  • Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable process
  • Assist in monthly expense tracking

Autonomous Vehicle Engineering

About this Position: you will be working hands-on with the creation of the autonomous TMA truck installation process at Royal’s Coopersburg, PA facility. After obtaining a background knowledge of the TMA trucks we manufacture, you will work with and learn directly from the manufacturers of the autonomous technology, Micro Systems, Inc., a Kratos company, and Royal’s in-house engineering department. Royal’s Autonomous Truck Intern will be taught how to install the technology on the truck, and effectively turn a standard TMA truck into an autonomous attenuator truck.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Have obtained or are working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • Must have experience in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience working with autonomous technology a plus


Process Improvement: These projects will draw from Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles. Interns should expect to do research and design on anything from time and resource studies for existing production stages and work centers, to new or complete redesign of production processes, to identification of process waste, and the design of controls to reduce or eliminate them.

Product Development: Improve technologies including our integrated DVR, radar, GPS and remote fleet management systems, truck-mounted generators, and even driverless vehicles. Interns will research, design, incorporate and integrate technologies with existing systems within our trucks, as well as stand-alone solutions. Some projects will include technology scouting for new innovation while others will focus on improving functionality, commercialization and development of existing products.

Government Relations

Key responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Updating and maintaining our database of Federal and State Department of Transportation regulations and contacts relevant to our company.
  • Assist with the preparation of Invitation to Bid and Request for Proposal documents.
  • Transcribing departmental meeting notes.
  • Generate new leads for the Government Accounts Department
  • Outreach to state and local government officials.
  • Help customers with all questions related to government regulations.

Marketing and Business Development

Project work for would cover a wide variety of marketing and business development management disciplines, including rapid market assessments, pricing strategy, website development, inbound marketing, advertising, marketing communications, strategy social media, and digital marketing. Some projects may focus primarily on white-space growth opportunities, while others might focus on research to help us better undertsand the markets and customers we serve today.


A programming intern at Royal must be a good problem solver. You should possess the ability to identify key issues and barriers to success and proactively resolve them. You’ll need outstanding communication skills, oral and written. Most importantly, you need knowledge and/or practical experience with at least one current programming languages: C#, VB.NET, or Java is a plus. Our programming intern will do a variety of tasks including, but not limited to:

• Working with the company’s QuoteWerks program, which houses the company’s quoting system, to write custom integrations and/or add-ons
• Working to implement the company’s MRP system, Misys.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain identity and access reports
• Work with sales and finance teams to design and implement features and capabilities

    Yes; we offer 3 different fields. We offer internships in various different positions. We offer Marketing and Business Development, Process Improvement, and Product Development focused internships.

    Actually, no. We offer full-time internship positions in the summertime, but have part-time internship available during the Fall and Spring semesters. You can also apply to have our internship count towards your college credits!

    Yes! Although, we do pay you in Mike and Ikes… just kidding! We do pay you real money (we promise), depending on the full or part-time internship opportunities available.
